14 Weeks Group Project with Jamie Lee, Yanhui Ban, Sean Herrein 2020 Sustainable Strategy CMF UX/UI
Airo was a group project to redesign Homes air purifier sponsored by Newell whose mission was to design life without plastic. Our main goal was to redesign an existing air purifier towards sustainability, secondarily to recapture Generation Z who is more aware of sustainability and social responsibility and digital native. My role was to take charge of sustainability; research on materials, calculate Okala Score (a standard for environmental impact) of the given product, bring ideas based on sustainability, and design user experience.
Product Airo
Our goal is to minimize environmental impacts and maximize the life cycle of the product. Unlike current HEPA filters in the market that use fiberglass, Airo HEPA filters are made from a soybean-based material - making them biodegradable and cardboard for the filter holder - that reduces 99.6% of environmental impacts.
The app supports users’ lifestyle by providing scheduling function that fits their routine, air condition of the air quality inside and outside, and sending notifications to users for better ways to care the air condition.
Control the Airo seamlessly and check the air quality visually.
Users can operate the Airo with the app and check the air quality of their space and their location, and check its performance.
Let the Airo follow your routine
You can set up a running schedule here in the app that fits your routine so that you can save electricity and not bother from the noise at night.
Checking the air quality of your favorite places
Airo provides AQI information about the places wherever you want to search. Add your favorite places and check them through widgets as well.
It’s time to replace your filters
You don’t need to check the lifetime of 3 types of filters, Airo will send you a notification when to replace or you can set up a subscription.
