Material You serves as Android’s visual infrastructure, utilizing an 'Expressive Design' philosophy to harmonize emotional experience with technical sophistication. This project evolved conceptual visions into a premium production standard across the Google ecosystem. By orchestrating a large-scale initiative, I unified diverse design contributions into a cohesive system, ensuring seamless integration into the core Pixel UI.

The goal
The goal was to architect a visual infrastructure that harmonizes emotional expression with technical logic, utilizing dynamic motion, expressive typography, and adaptive density. This ensured that deep personalization seamlessly scales across diverse form factors while upholding the premium, flagship quality of the Google product experience.
Achievement
Recognized the achievement of 'System-wide Harmony,' where the integration of Android Carbon standards ensured that even complex motion and type scales feel like a native part of the premium Pixel experience.

I served as a lead visual designer for Desktop Windowing, a strategic initiative to transform the Android tablet into a professional-grade productivity platform. This project was a complex orchestration of OS-level consistency, requiring me to lead the visual alignment between Google and Samsung to establish a unified industry standard. This project highlights my expertise in defining the full-lifecycle logic of a new system.
What I achieved was the end-to-end design of the windowing experience—from entry and exit strategies to dynamic resizing and infinite scaling—creating a 'Silent Logic' of Color and Shadow that ensures accessibility and performance for millions of users worldwide.

Personal Safety is a critical system application on Pixel devices designed to assist users in high-stress emergency situations. The focus was on transforming this vital service from a legacy component set into a unified, accessibility-first design system aligned with the latest Android standards.
I led the visual restructuring of the app—from optimizing layouts for Foldables and Tablets to architecting system-level sign-in components. By establishing these standards, I ensured that critical safety features are consistent, intuitive, and production-ready across all Pixel devices.

I led the visual direction for Android Overview, a core surface with 90% daily active use that demands highly complex cross-functional orchestration. My primary focus was establishing a unified design criteria to ensure that all multitasking features, from Desktop Windowing to Split Screen, maintained a consistent and premium visual logic. By codifying these standards, I transformed fragmented tools into a simplified, intuitive user experience that scales seamlessly across devices.
This strategic architecture resulted in Split Screen becoming the #1 driver for user transition to foldable form factors, proving the direct impact of visual clarity on hardware adoption. Ultimately, I delivered a high-end visual infrastructure that balances sophisticated productivity with the seamless ease of use expected of the Pixel ecosystem.
